abrdn takes a strategic stake in Archax to back its regulated digital securities exchange.
Archax is a regulated digital asset exchange, brokerage and custodian based in London. It allows institutional investors to trade and custody digital and traditional securities.
Archax has secured Series A investment from abrdn, making the asset manager its largest external shareholder. The funding supports the exchange as it prepares for its official launch later this year.
Established four years ago, Archax holds FCA permissions for trading, custody and brokerage of digital securities. The partnership aims to provide institutional investors with access to blockchain assets and tokenised products.
abrdn CEO Stephen Bird noted that the deal secures a footprint in the developing digital investment market, while Archax CEO Graham Rodford described the backing as a milestone for the company and the wider tokenised sector.
From the founder
"It is extremely exciting to have abrdn as a strategic investor in our business. We see this as a massive statement of belief in what we have built at Archax, as well as being a key milestone in our evolution and for the digital/tokenised world as a whole. We look forward to working with abrdn closely to provide a new universe of users with access to our services, as well as creating new innovative tokenised products that will trade on our marketplace."
