Aqemia develops an artificial intelligence platform for drug discovery that uses atomic scale physics rather than experimental training data. The Paris based company focuses on creating novel molecular structures for pharmaceutical applications.

Aqemia has secured $38m in additional funding to advance its drug discovery platform and prepare for clinical trials. The investment round was led by Cathay Innovation, bringing the company total funding to $100m.

The capital will support the company expansion plans, which include opening a London office in King Cross to tap into the United Kingdom life sciences talent pool. The funding follows preclinical milestones in oncology and a major partnership with Sanofi.

Cathay Innovation participated alongside its network of backers to support the platform development. The company combines quantum inspired physics with generative artificial intelligence to design new molecules without requiring prior experimental data.
