Approov secures £5m led by Maven Capital Partners to expand mobile security software operations

The investment round includes participation from Souter Investments, Lanza techVentures and Scottish Enterprise.

Edinburgh-based mobile security specialist Approov has secured £5m in funding led by Maven Capital Partners through the Investment Fund for Scotland. The round also drew participation from Souter Investments along with existing backers Lanza techVentures and Scottish Enterprise. The capital will be deployed to expand the company research and development team in Edinburgh and accelerate international sales and marketing operations.

Approov has developed technology designed to ensure that only unmodified applications operating in trusted environments can access backend services. The platform counters artificial intelligence-driven attacks, bots and tampering through real-time analytics and cloud-based secret management. The business plans to use its new resources to diversify into additional vertical sectors and scale its global footprint.
