Aker Systems secures minority investment from LDC to fund expansion
LDC has taken a minority stake in Aker Systems to support the expansion of its secure cloud data services.
Aker Systems designs, builds and operates ultra-secure public cloud data environments for large private and public sector clients. Founded in 2016, the firm provides proprietary technology solutions to help organisations improve data management and reduce costs.
Aker Systems has secured a significant minority investment from mid-market private equity firm LDC to support its ongoing expansion and software development. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The partnership will enable Aker Systems to increase investment in research and development for its proprietary software and grow its team of technical specialists. LDC investment directors Lawrence Dean and Chris Baker will join the board as non-executive directors alongside new non-executive chairman Tom Burnet.
LDC has a history of backing technology companies, having invested over £1bn in the UK technology, media and telecoms sector. The transaction marks LDC's third deal in the South of England over a four-month period.
