Air Aware Labs has closed the first tranche of an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round backed by a mix of angel and institutional investors. The capital will be deployed to accelerate commercial growth and develop a mobile application for the company's flagship product, AirTrack.
The London-based start-up addresses public health concerns linked to atmospheric pollution, which contributes to more than 8 million deaths globally each year and significant economic costs. AirTrack delivers hyper-local information to help users navigate daily routines while minimising exposure to harmful pollutants.
Chief executive Louise Thomas noted that the new financing will support efforts to expand the product's capabilities and reach new communities internationally.
